How Can I Help?

Adharshila is a place of learning and growth not only for the children that live here, but for the friends, volunteers and visitors that have helped us all here expand our horizons.

Support Adharshila Services

The children and residents of Adharshila are always creating. From recycled paper greeting cards to laptop bags from old cement sacks to naatak(drama) workshops, supporting Adharshila's creations is the best way to support Adharshila. See a full list of what Adharshila can create for you here.

Fundraising

Education began as a people's effort. We believe in keeping that spirit alive and developing linkages with people, making Adharshila a people's effort.

We rely primarily on personal, not institutional funding to keep us providing new avenues for children to explore. We accept individual donations. You can contribute online via credit card here or send a cheque, money order or demand draft by registered post or courier to the address listed here.

We are always looking for ideas to help with resources that are hard to come by here, particularly electricity and computer, audio or video hardware and software that would help us bring explore multimedia education. We are currently looking to regularize our power supply and do more on laptops. Donations in kind or in creative ideas are always appreciated. Contact us with more details.

Sponsor a Student

Our students are children from surrounding villages who pay a nominal fee, partly in grain, wood, or other material we use daily. By choosing to sponsor a student's costs, you can ensure that they are free to explore their creativity. Funds go toward food, housing and educational materials for a child. It costs approximately Rs. 6000 (~USD125) to sponsor a child for a year. Contribute by clicking the link above.

Volunteering

Adharshila has been an active voice in support of alternative education in India, and has had recent audience internationally as well. We have had volunteers contribute their time here as they learn about our philosophies on learning and rural growth while sharing their own.
Some volunteers have come  for longer periods to find their own answers to the questions that alternative education, rural India and rapid consumer-centric economic growth have raised. All we ask is an open mind. Contact us to explore your options.
